The Bow River — known to the Blackfoot people as part of Moh'kinsstis, the place where the rivers meet — flows through the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations, as well as the Stoney Nakoda Nations and the Tsuut'ina Nation. For thousands of years, these waters have sustained life, culture, and community for the peoples who have called this landscape home. We acknowledge this territory with respect, and recognize that caring for these rivers is not a new idea.

Indigenous Peoples have been stewards of this land and water far longer than any of us have been casting lines on it.

As we work to protect the Bow, we do so with gratitude for those who came before us, and with a responsibility to honour that relationship.
